Tonight sees me mixing monitors at the Opera House in Toronto. So far so good, 10 bands, I'm guessing they'll all be young and eager and often times pretty cocky. These are the kind of shows when I realise how many bands there are in a big city like this and more so how many are going to get absolutely nowhere. It must be about 2 degrees in here.
So after somewhat of a misunderstanding with the girl who booked me for these shows, I have now been offered a full time position as the monitor guy at the Opera House. That could be a pretty tempting offer. I can only imagine that after Christmas and New Year have blown over at HMV my amount of work will take a steep dive. A job at the Opera House would be great to get some money in the bank BUT it means far less flexibility with scheduling and freedom of time. I suppose I really should take the position just to guarantee myself employment and rent money. Being on a completely different schedule to Jess would be pretty horrible though, it would mean no more hanging together every night. Maybe that's something we need to get used to?
